Getting Started on Foundry

This guide will walk you through the steps needed to launch your training on Foundry for the first time. In addition to following this list, we recommend sharing the IT Checklist with your organization’s IT team and whitelisting EVERFI emails in order to prepare your system for implementation.

If you want a more in-depth training, please take a look at our Administrator Platform Training. You can review the full training or jump to different sections and functionality of Foundry.

1. Create A Location

You may have one or more locations preloaded into your account when it was created. Locations are physical addresses that are used to display the relevant legal statutes to learners if the course has state/jurisdiction legal statutes in it. Locations can also be used to target assignments, specify policies and resources, and filter reports.

2. Add Custom Categories

In addition to locations, Custom Categories provide an additional option to organize your learners and data. When thinking about your set-up, consider what courses you want to assign to which segment of your learner population and when. A few common examples are departments, year hired, matriculation year, and employee type.

We recommend setting up these classifications before uploading users to your Foundry account. If you are unsure what to use, you can consult your Account Manager for best practices.

3. Customize Your Courses

EVERFI courses allow for the customization of multiple elements to align the content with your organization’s branding and messaging. Note that configuration options vary by course. We recommend adding customizations at least one week before launching your course.

  • Custom Policies: Make sure learners read and acknowledge your organization’s policies by including them in your courses.
  • Custom Resources: Connect learners with your relevant resources and information based on the topic areas covered in the course.
  • Other Configurations: Personalize the learning experience with organization-specific messaging and images so the content can further resonate with learners.

4. Customize Communications

Foundry sends automatic messages to learners at the start of an assignment and scheduled reminders until completion. Administrators have the option to customize what those messages say and the reminder cadence per assignment.

5. Upload Users

Users must be uploaded before administrators can assign training to them. Additional administrators and learners can be added or updated individually or through a batch upload process using EVERFI’s upload template. If you created any Custom Categories, you attach the Custom Labels to learners upon initial upload.

6. Make a test assignment to yourself

Before assigning training to learners, we recommend creating up a test assignment for yourself using the same settings you will use for your real assignment. After receiving your invitation, access the course, and make some progress so you are familiar with the learner experience. Once you are done testing, deactivate your assignment to clear it from your dashboard.

7. Create Assignments for Learners

For each assignment, you will determine the type of assignment to use, the course(s), which learners to include, the invitation and reminder messages, and a start and due date. After the assignment start date, you can begin tracking progress on the assignment page or with more-in depth reports.

Getting Started on the Higher Ed Partner Center (Homeroom)

This guide will walk you through the steps needed to launch your training on the Higher Ed Partner Center (Homeroom) for the first time. Because the implementation process requires information from your Account Manager, we strongly recommend scheduling a Training Plan Development Call at least 2 weeks ahead of your implementation date to ensure all pieces are in place.

In addition to following this list, we recommend sharing the IT Checklist with your organization’s IT team and whitelisting EVERFI emails in order to prepare your system for implementation.

1. Platform Overview

Starting with a few overview videos will provide a solid foundation to understanding what account set-up is needed in Homeroom. The implementation process requires a registration code and an administrator to send the login information to learners. Review the resources below for more information.

2. Determine Cohorts

Learner cohorts provide an option to organize your learners and data and can be determined per course. A few common examples are semesters, new vs. returning student, and sports teams. You will need to communicate these cohorts to your Account Manager.

3. Plan Communications and Mandates

Communication is the key to success with an implementation on Homeroom. Plan what and how you will message to learners and the larger community about the assignments pre- and post-launch. EVERFI provides templates you can use and adjust in these communication toolkits.

Mandates are also proven to yield higher completion rates. Discuss with your team and Account Manager creative ways your institution can hold learners accountable.

3. Customize Your Course

EVERFI courses allow for the customization of multiple elements to align the content with your institution’s branding and messaging.

4. Schedule a Training Plan Development Call

At this point, you are ready to meet with your Account Manager to discuss the points above, to receive your registration codes, and ensure your courses are ready for learners to begin registering.
