In partnership with EVERFI, The Center for Audit Quality will award eleven national $5,000 scholarships to students who completed the Accounting Careers: Limitless Opportunities course and applied for the essay-based scholarship competition.
To deepen local relationships between students being reached through the Accounting Careers: Limitless Opportunities program and local representatives of state societies associated with the Accounting+ Initiative, we’ve identified opportunities for awarding of the national scholarship winners to be delivered in-person or virtually using the steps below.
Getting Started
The national scholarship competition closes on April 30, 2024 and all winners will be identified in mid-May. Once the winner’s guardians have completed the paperwork associated with accepting the award, the winner’s information will be shared with the Center for Audit Quality to determine a state society representative in the area.
1) INTRODUCTIONS:
The state society representative will receive an introductory email including EVERFI, the CAQ, and the scholarship winner’s teacher requesting the scholarship award delivery visit at the school. The teacher will identify available dates for the team.
2) SCHEDULING:
Once the teacher has confirmed a live or virtual delivery, the state society representative will send their selected date to the teacher to confirm the delivery using the template below.
*Please keep EVERFI CC-ed on all communication with teacher in order to assist with scheduling conflicts, potential EVERFI representatives in the area joining in-person, and any other details surrounding the scholarship winner needed.
Run of Show
3) IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL DIRECTIONS:
Once the location, date, and time are identified for an in-person or virtual scholarship delivery, the state society representative can follow the Run of Show and suggested speaker remarks below for the event.
Keep in Mind:
- Remember to take a photo with the winner in the classroom or (ideally) in front of the school.
- Encourage students to stay involved and continue to explore a career in accounting using the accounting+ website.
- You will have the opportunity to announce the winner’s name live. There’s always a possibility the guardians have successfully kept the award a secret from the winner, so it might be a surprise!
Follow-Up and Closing
Thank you for giving the winners an opportunity to connect with a professional in the field of accounting, as well as taking the time to celebrate their huge achievement!
4) THANK YOU NOTE:
Once the award has been delivered, please send a quick thank you email to the student’s teacher for facilitating this scholarship delivery request.

Tips & Tricks
Keep it Relatable
- You may be the first person a student has met from the accounting industry or from your career focus area. We encourage you to share your personal story and moments from your youth that have helped lead you down a specific path. It just may get them thinking about their own!
Keep it Brief
- We recommend that scholarship delivery events are no more than 10-25 minutes. Work with the teacher to identify which portion of their class period would work best for an on-site delivery.
Remember Classroom Guidelines
- Remember that you are a guest in the teacher’s classroom – don’t forget to say thank you for getting the opportunity to meet their students and be a part of their education for a day.
- If you want to take pictures outside of the scholarship winner, please ask the teacher. You will only be allowed to take pictures of students who have completed a photo release form. The scholarship winner’s guardians have completed a media release form prior to the award delivery.
